About FIDE

The International Chess Federation, or World Chess Federation, is commonly referred to by its French acronym FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs). FIDE is an international organization headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, that connects the various national chess federations and acts as the governing body of international chess competition. Founded in Paris, France, on July 20, 1924, FIDE’s motto is Gens una sumus - We are One Family. Today, FIDE has 201 national member federations, including Pakistan. FIDE plays a central role in regulating and standardizing chess, awarding titles, and organizing international competitions, contributing to the global development and governance of the sport.
